new releases and upcoming shows
We have a lot on our plate. Please help us chew.
JULY 29 - STRANGE DAYS #3
Once a month we dive head first, packing mind grenades and psychic mustard gas, into the nightlife trenches on 14th street. The upcoming edition of Strange Days is especially exciting. Orlando’s Strangers Family Band take an earnest, historically accurate approach to psych rock in a fashion similar to that of theme park employees recreating colonial times. Jefferson Airplane:Monterey::Strangers Family Band:BAR. MZ. OLOGIST will be keeping everyone grounded in 2010 with raunchy poetry backed by top shelf hip-hop production. Rumor has it Dr. Dre produced one of her tracks. A lot of people have been asking what’s in the Palm Beach County water supply (because there are so many good bands from there, you see) and we suspect it’s Tumbleweave who have been spiking the resevoir. Miami-based table-noise ensemble-of-one, SINGLE, will open the proceedings with tape loops + vocal manipulation. A spectacle so spectacular warrants multiple flyers:

JULY 30 - a: i don’t know / b: i don’t care - I SWEAR RELEASE

What can we say, we’re addicted to obsolete mediums. Friday, July 30th, roaming gallery The End hosts the kickoff of our publishing branch spearheaded by Roofless co-president Dana Bassett.

This will be up in the catalog section soon, but for now:
I SWEAR by Lazaro Rodriguez (Roofless Publishing #1)
$22PPD / PayPal rooflessrecords@gmail.com
I SWEAR is the debut monograph from Miami-based visual artist Lazaro Rodriguez. The book draws from the style and tone of his picture blogs (plan2cry + laz rodriguez) and brings forth a new dimension by translating internet to physical document. The show features work curated by Laz (Jared Boger, Nick Klein, Dan Rossiter, Adam Schleimer, and Dave Whitaker) as well as a special closing performance by “CJ, Jimmy, and Jordan.”
AUGUST 1 - BRUNCH WITH THE PRESIDENT @ SWEAT RECORDS

The first of the month, Sweat Records hosts Brunch With The President, featuring a vegan a la carte menu from Earthcakes: tofu scramble, veggie sausages, breakfast potatoes, toast+bagels+waffles, muffins, fresh fruit + OJ. Performing live will be experimental percussionist Booga, local Dad-approved shoegaze trio Self & Other, and, of course, The President.
Brunch With The President will be the official release party for his new full length, Lebron.

one of a kind cover for The President’s Lebron
This will be up in the catalog section soon, but for now:
The President - Lebron Deluxe CD-R (Roofless Records #8)
$6PPD / PayPal rooflessrecords@gmail.com
8 releases deep and this is our first rock record. Drawing from power pop, metal, psychedelia and post-genre babble, Lebron was recorded on a digital 8-track in a non-stop fury culminating in the President’s own ecstatic delirium upon learning of the Miami Heat’s acquisition of Lebron James. The President has been called everything from “a one man Ween” to “a meglomaniac.” The package: a CD-R inside a 7” slip with an original drawing (one of a kind for each copy) by the man himself, a one-sheet/trackl ist, and a supplementary booklet filled with additional notes on the project.
