EXPERIENCE SOBRIETY 

Roofless Records is proud to announce the release of the new full length album by The President, EXPERIENCE SOBRIETY (RR09). Packaged with original cover art by Brian Butler, a massive 30+ page insert complete with illustrated lyrics and supplemental literature, as well as The President’s debut album, LeBron, and bonus tracks including b-sides, covers and demos (a whopping 33 songs). 


EXPERIENCE SOBRIETY retains LeBron’s homebrewed, schizophrenic approach to rock and roll. The studio: a digital 8-track in the center of The President’s private(ly squatted) estate in Cutler Bay, The White House. The genre: a unique, highly personalized amalgamation, bastardization and general bamboozlement of 60 years worth of rock music, sourcing forms as disparate as Melvins-style sludge metal, breezy 80s soft rock a la Phil Collins, and peppy Screeching Weasel influenced pop-punk, to the greater service of a playful, highly conceptual character piece. The President resists no form of guitar-based exclamation from the blues stomp in “Free Weezy Pt. 2”,the powerful riffage of “Ingrid & Abigail"and "Mr. President,” and the Guns N Roses by way of Derek Bailey avant-balladry of “Secret Service.”


While EXPERIENCE SOBRIETY continues LeBron’s Ween-like experiment with aesthetic blending, the album departs in focus: LeBron had none, while EXPERIENCE SOBRIETY is filled with nothing but. The President is sober. The President is a 3rd Degree Master Mason. The President is a criminal, on probation, spreading the good news of positive thinking and positive feeling, as to ultimately manifest positive living. The spiritual evolution of The President is reflected heavily in the lyrics, which draw from the immersion-based street smarts of Burroughs and Bukowski, the life-affirming gusto of 80s Youth Crew hardcore, the psychic empowerment of self-help/get rich literature and the frenetic, referential nature of contemporary digital discourse.
